About Lindsey

Lindsey Hayes Koelman is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Clinical Herbalist, Medical Qigong Practitioner and Instructor. She has a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley, graduating Summa Cum Laude and class valedictorian. She also has an undergraduate degree in Human Development from UC San Diego (Magna Cum Laude). Her professional interests include pain alleviation, fertility enhancement, hormonal balance, and pregnancy support, all as part of a general family practice.

In addition to her private practice, Lindsey is an on-call acupuncturist at several fertility clinics, teaches Qigong (a form of movement meditation) classes in various retreats, schools, and recovery centers in the Bay Area, and is a consultant for a famous tea company, advising them on herbal blends.  Lindsey is also an active member of the Norcal Fertility Group and is one of two Bay Area practitioners certified by the Fertile Soul Institute (an elite training program for fertility professionals, led by Dr. Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure).  Prior to having her daughter in 2014, Lindsey was the head Qigong instructor at Bayside Marin Recovery Program and an assistant professor at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley.

Over the past 15 years Lindsey has treated thousands of patients in a variety of clinical settings: AIMC Berkeley Clinic, Jewish Community Free Clinic in Rohnert Park, West Berkeley Family Practice, Berkeley Primary Care, Alta Bates Hospital, Marin General Hospital, Berkeley Community Acupuncture, Pine St Clinic, North Bay Medical Arts, and Marin Fertility Center. She has worked with patients aged 2 months to 97 years on a wide array of health issues. She has apprenticed with some of the best Chinese medical doctors in the field and regularly attends continuing education courses to advance her training.  Lindsey also has a background in Western Medicine, volunteering for four years in different hospital departments. She collaborates with many Bay Area physicians and health care providers.

Lindsey discovered Chinese medicine through her own recovery from illness, and it helped her reclaim her vitality. With this gratitude for the medicine and a deep knowing of the challenges that a health crisis can bring, Lindsey now assists others on the path to wellness.

“I’ve been receiving regular acupuncture treatments from Lindsey for the past 3 years for various issues related to multiple sclerosis.  Her technique is very gentle and effective.  It has brought me relief from nerve-related pain, arthritis, and muscle spasms, and I’ve seen a huge difference with my energy, sleep and mood.
Lindsey is compassionate, professional, warm, and a true modern-day healer.  Her advice and perspective are as important to me as my primary care physician. I also think her office is the most beautiful clinic I have ever seen.  The minute I walk in the door I feel more calm and peaceful.”
