Marin Acupuncture Clinic: Our Approach
The mission of Marin Acupuncture Clinic is to alleviate pain, restore health, and nourish life. We are committed to serving our community with effective, high-quality, and empowering healthcare and thus reducing the limitless suffering in the world so people can be free to live to their full human potential. Our vision is to be a leader in the integrative medical movement and promote health, harmony and wellness to people of all ages. We offer the safe, time-tested remedies of Chinese medicine and partner with modern Allopathic and Complementary medicine practitioners to provide the best possible support to our patients. Chinese medicine is our art; touching lives is our gift.
Marin Acupuncture Clinic is a full-spectrum Chinese medical practice, located within the world-renowned Pine Street Clinic in San Anselmo, Marin County, CA. In addition to our private practice, we also provide house-calls as needed for labor induction and for those who are unable to travel to our office. We specialize in family and internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pain management, rehabilitative medicine, and disease prevention.
We offer a large “tool kit” of healthcare services and products, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, medical massage, dietary and healthy lifestyle counseling, medical qigong therapy, as well as wellness and qigong classes to the public. We provide primary care office visits, a full herbal medicine pharmacy, nutritional supplements, and different styles of acupuncture to meet the needs of our patients.
We have several factors that set us apart from other acupuncturists in Marin: Our seven years of the study and practice of Chinese medicine, our advanced training in Gynecology and women’s health issues, our beautiful, authentic, and professional clinic that we share with world-renowned clinicians, our use of technology to minimize human errors (electronic medical records and online scheduling), excellent referral relationships with western and complementary medical providers, our warm and comforting bedside manner, our successful clinical results, and personal integrity (we practice what we preach!). We regularly attend continuing education courses to further our training and knowledge. We also conduct research with the Pine Street Clinic to advance our modern understanding of Chinese medicine.
It is a great honor to partner with our patients to design choices and create options for the treatment of their health problems. We look forward to supporting you in achieving and maintaining “your health in bloom.” Welcome to Marin Acupuncture Clinic!
Lindsey Hayes Koelman
Lindsey Hayes Koelman received her Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her professional interests include gynecology and obstetrics, fertility, eating disorders, internal medicine, and pain management as part of a general family practice.
In addition to her private practice in Marin, Lindsey has treated hundreds of patients with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical qigong therapy in several Bay Area clinics: AIMC Berkeley clinic, Jewish Community Free Clinic in Rohnert Park, West Berkeley Family Practice, Berkeley Primary Care, Alta Bates Hospital, and North Bay Medical Arts. She has worked with patients aged 2 months to 97 years on a wide variety of health issues.
Lindsey draws on eight years of study in Chinese medicine and alternative
healing modalities. She has training in Western herbs and nutrition, meditation, and cutting-edge support therapies for chemical dependency and recovery from trauma (such as the Emotional Freedom Technique---EFT). Lindsey has apprenticed with some of the best Chinese medical doctors in the field and continues to advance her training through research and continuing education. She also has a background in Western medicine. Lindsey volunteered for several years in different hospital
departments, including Cardiology, Critical Care, and Pediatrics. She collaborates with many Bay Area physicians and health care providers.
Lindsey has an undergraduate degree in Human Development from UC San Diego. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and completed an honor’s thesis in childhood development and teratology.
Lindsey has found that acupuncture can help almost every health issue that we encounter in our lives and she discovered Chinese medicine through her own recovery from illness. It has helped her and countless patients regain their strength and vitality. She believes the beauty of Chinese medicine is that no two people are treated exactly the same---Lindsey customizes each treatment to support the individual needs of her patients.
She is particularly passionate about working with women during major life transitions: into womanhood, motherhood, and menopause.
Lindsey holds several professional memberships, including the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), Society of Acupuncture Research, American Acupuncture Council, and the San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce. She volunteers for Beyond Hunger and Eating Disorder Recovery Services (EDRS) to educate about and prevent the causes of eating disorders. She has lectured at San Francisco State University and throughout the Bay Area on Chinese Medicine. Lindsey has also taught Qigong classes to cancer survivors and Chinese medical students.
